Bedias

Nestled in the heart of Grimes County, Bedias, Texas, is a historic and naturally beautiful community. Located 30 miles northeast of Navasota at the intersection of State Highway 90 and Farm Roads 1696 and 2620, Bedias provides convenient access to College Station, Huntsville, and Houston.

The town’s roots date back to the 1830s when early settlers established a community that would later be named after the Bidai Indians, the area’s original inhabitants. Notably, Sarah Dodson, who crafted one of Texas’s earliest Lone Star flags, resided in Bedias from 1844 to 1848.

The region is also known for discovering Bediasites, rare, glass-like tektites formed from meteorite impacts millions of years ago. These add a unique geological facet to its rich heritage.
